BEN FISCHER: WOODTURNER

Reflections arrive in many forms. Ben Fischer, woodturner, has created a current series he calls Small Reflections. “The bowls offer a treat for the eye," he explains in his artist's statement.  "My objects are based on the concept of the hollow turned vessel, where there is a small opening at the top of the bowl and the design flows outward from there.  Deep inside, nestled in its small saucer at the bottom of the vessel lay a dazzling, circular piece of dichroic glass that reflects an image as you peer inside - "eye candy".  I want to make nonfunctional pieces that create form to reveal the beauty and sensuousness of the wood.  Wood is so appealing - to the touch, to the eye."
